Therapy?
What to Expect

What is therapy?

Many of us have had experiences that impact our ability to fully engage and enjoy love, work, or play. Therapy is a collaborative process designed to explore and reveal our beliefs that form meaning about ourselves, others, and the world. Therapy can help you address barriers that interfere with your overall wellbeing. We will work together through your struggles and on your journey to become your best, authentic self.

Some of my specializations include:

  • Mood (e.g. depression, bi-polar) and anxiety

  • Stress management

  • Managing difficult life transitions

  • Relationship challenges and interpersonal difficulties

  • Trauma

  • Addictions and problematic substance use

  • Bereavement, grief and loss

  • Low self-esteem

  • Shame and guilt

What you can expect

During the initial sessions, we will engage in a comprehensive assessment to ensure we develop a holistic understanding of your concerns and what brought you to therapy. We will collaboratively develop goals and a plan to move forward. This may look like “talk therapy” (processing your thoughts and feelings about situations), and/or learning practical new strategies and skills to better manage future situations.

I am trained in multiple therapy modalities, and practice from a strengths-based, harm reduction approach. From an attachment- and trauma-informed perspective, I can help you examine how your life experiences influence how you navigate and explore your daily life. What this means for you is that you will work collaboratively with an empathetic, non-judgmental therapist, in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment, to explore and process your concerns, ultimately helping you improve your well-being and achieve your goals and dreams.

Some modalities I have been trained and practice in:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Narrative Therapy

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

  • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy
